| Features

To increase accuracy, achieve high surface quality, reduce machining time, and avoid tool breakage, CimatronE Micro Milling features a special, dedicated environment that supports machining of miniature mold cores, cavities, minute details and electrodes for micro-systems. Features include:

  • Safe and highly-efficient toolpaths
    • Recognition of actual remaining “micro stock”
    • Standard 3-axis functions plus rough/re-rough/finish in the same function, for machining very thin geometry
    • Trochoidal roughing
  • 5-axis tilting
    • For jobs requiring use of short conic tools with small diameter, hard machined material and tough surface quality requirements.
    • Where part geometry has deep cavities and ribs relative to tool length, accurate direct surface milling drastically reduces need for electrodes in micro molds
  • HSM and surface quality
    • Rounded corners with very large radius compared to tool diameter
    • Zero-overlap trochoidal finishing
    • S-connections and helical plunging
    • Adaptive Z-layer finishing
    • Z-layer and flow-line machining

Micro-systems machining demands:
